YouTube Red

A few months ago, Google created a new video service that you can subscribe too to get new and exciting videos that are ad-free. YouTube Red is a monthly subscription service provided by YouTube and is quickly on the rise.

Here is everything you need to know about YouTube Red before subscribing according to this article written by Cnet.com:

You can watch them on almost any device. Whether you want to watch videos on your phone, smart tv or a gaming console, YouTube Red has got you covered. Plus they have added a couple of fantastic features, if I do say so myself, including being able to watch videos offline and being able to listen to videos while your screen is off (FINALLY! They fixed my biggest pet peeve).

Another special aspect of this program is that it will feature original shows, very similar to Netflix’s original series’. The first original YouTube Red series premiered in February of 2016 and cover a wide variety of genres.

Now, you might be wondering how much this special edition of YouTube will cost you… only $10 a month. Not too shabby for unlimited, ad-free videos.

The good news is, if none of this appeals to you, you have nothing to worry about. Google has every intention of keeping the original YouTube up and running just the way it has been in the past.

In the cnet article mention above, author Sarah Mitroff stated, “You will miss out on the extra features Red offers, but nothing will change about how you use YouTube right now. Additionally, most of the original content available through Red will eventually become free with ads after an unspecified amount of time.”

So whether you want to subscribe or not, it is your choice. I am interested to see if the YouTube Red original series gain as much attention as Netflix’s original series do… only time will tell.

Will you be trying out the new feature of YouTube or will you be sticking with the original website?
